Silver or Gold: Wedding Ring Material
July 16th, 2010Congratulations on your impending nuptials! Getting married is very exciting. You may have thought about every wedding detail, but have you thought about purchasing the wedding bands yet? When you are deciding what wedding ring to purchase, make sure that you contemplate what wedding ring material to use on the ring.
By far the most popular wedding ring material is gold wedding ring material. Gold wedding rings are very popular, with yellow gold being the favorite. However, white gold wedding rings are becoming popular as well, especially with younger brides and grooms.
There are some things you need to think about when purchasing a gold wedding ring. There are different levels of gold, and you do not want to get too pure gold for your wedding ring because it will be too soft. If your gold wedding ring is too pure and soft, it will always become warped and bent. Instead, choose a medium range gold for the wedding rings. Another thing that you should think about when purchasing a gold wedding ring is what to do with the white gold wedding ring. White gold wedding rings require special care. You will have to get it dipped in a chemical compound in order to keep the ring white, and even then you will still need to clean it regularly. If you do not get it dipped then the acids in your skin will turn the ring to yellow gold. If this happens, a professional can restore it to its original white gold wedding ring color.
If you do not have a lot of money right now, you can always get a silver wedding ring. Silver is not nearly as nice of a material as gold wedding ring material, but it is still a viable option for those on a budget. This is especially true if you intend to be able to purchase a better ring at a later date. You can spend the money you do have getting your wife a diamond wedding ring or any other wedding ring that she desires and get yourself a silver wedding ring that simply looks like a white gold wedding ring.
Whatever you chose to do, remember that the wedding ring will last for the length of the marriage—which will hopefully be for many, many years! It is okay to spend a large chunk of money on the rings because they will be worn daily for many years.
